June 21 Reports released todayOkay, so today i hear from "Sky News" that not only has the report into last year's "Black Hawk" helicopter crash been released, but also that the report into sexual abuse among our northern indigenous communities has FINALLY been released. What strikes me as funny (peculiar) though is the timing of both reports. Here we are, mere months from what surely will turn out to be a "watershed" election (which in my view must surely spell the end of John "quick fix" Howard's administration), and we have two MAJOR reports that can only mean bad things for the communtiy in general. On the one hand, we have a report that can only lead to an upgrade of our country's military budget (which I am sure will be spent on fighting some other bugger's war); and on the other hand, we have a report that can only serve to change what is a vibrant indigenous community into a ghost - town. Not that I am condoning abuse in any community, but have our politicians really thought this thing through? I sincerely doubt it, considering that it is the "white man's grog" that started this whole mess to begin with. And what of this report into the helicopter crash? I seriously cannot believe that it was a loose bolt in the control panel that supposedly caused the crash, but I would be preapred to accept that it was a broken/missing split (cotter) pin that did. Hmm, maybe there is something to this whole "intelligent life" theory... March 01 Recycled water versus Desalinated waterTonight's title fight is going to be a beautie folks!
In the blue corner, weighing in at 9 pounds, we have the reigning champ, Johnny "Quick Fix" Howard, with a record breaking ten years in office, six of those going, with gratitude, to a certain republican whom we all know and, er, love. Or should that be love to hate? Anyhoo, in the read corner, weighing in at decidedly over 18 million, is everybody else....
Now, although Johnny "Quick Fix" has apparantly managed to convince (confuse) a certain northern Premier into signing up to what must be the mother of all "quick fixes", just how long does little Johnny "Quick Fix" think he is going to be able to get with telling the rest of us that the only reason why we do not immediately go and sign up right away for this recycled sewerage "cr*p" is this so called "yuck factor". How stupid/gullible does he think we are? Or maybe little Johnny "Quick Fix" is so convinced that this time he is most definately out for the count in relation to this year's federal election, that he has decided that whatever the case may end up to be, it will not be him that gives the "go ahead"; and so therefore he can safely give up caring about the long term effects of drinking not only one's own recycled sewerage, but everyone else's as well. Call me a complete imbecile if you will, but isn't one of the first rules of making sure the water stays in the bathtub, as opposed to being on the floor, is to not let it get too close to the top? Here we are, with "Global Warming" placing in jeopardy several Pacific Island Nations due to RISING SEA LEVELS, and this bloke wants to forget about these same islands, in favour of a more "financially feasible" option...I say if the water is rising, scoop some off the top, pump it through a desalination/purification plant, this way not only does one end up with a few more litres of drinking water, but also a few pacific islanders get to keep their homes.
But then I am not the smartest guy in the world... January 14 The Mufti of Lakemba mosque...You know, I am getting pretty sick and tired of all this harrassment the Mufti is getting. Just last friday, I heard our local state member of Parliament saying words to the effect of if Sheik al-din El hilaly(sp?) did not like the way Australia is, then he should stay where he is at the moment, this being Egypt. I do not know about the rest of Australia, but did not read in our Commonwealth constitution (and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights), that every citizen of our "lucky country" has the INALIENABLE right to freedom of thought conscience and religion. Does this not mean that even though we may not like what a person says, we have to allow them to say what's on their mind, regardless of what this may be? Without denying them the right to say it? Morris (Maurice) you are acting just a little more than a little hypocritical if you can respresent a state that prides, nay champions, the right of people to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion if you deny the opportunity of the Mufti to say what he feels. Come on Mr. Iemma, your are (were) our local member for the State government! Or has the fact that your are now our state Premier made you lose sight of this? I say to all who read these little notes of mine; if Mr. Morris Iemma forgets the place where he started out from, he may well find that he will end up in a place that is in fact worse. I therefore hereby call you on your apparent hypocracy and in addition request you retract your publicly broadcasted statements in the interest and spirit of national unity. The police may very well wish to place me in prison for sedition and treason over this, but like the Mufti says, this country's value system is completely haywire!!! (and may I add that it has been for at least the last 23 years!
-Nuff said. October 27 Sheikh Taj el-Din Al Hilaly's comments recently...Now, this is written within the provisions of "free speech, and for those of you who know me, I will not make any apologies for this.
If a society claims that "sex sells", and then go and "prove" this by using any (and/or all) forms of sexual permissiveness to promote, in order to thereby sell, a product; then why is it that when someone who does not agree with this philosophy says they do not agree with said philosophy, not only gets "frowned" upon, but also has his comments taken so far out of context, so that if anyone else just happens to agree with the original person's viewpoint, they are seen as being "counter-productive"?
I will explain.
I have a five year old daughter. Now, while I can appreciate her wanting to be popular, rest assured that there is no way I will allow her to be dressed in an attire that could suggest she has something to advertise. Even though my daughter is only five years old, my philosophy wil stand regardless of how old my daughter is. As with regards to my eldest daughter, when I do finally track her down, the same philosophy will apply.
Now, I am going to come right out from the skeletons within my closet and say right here, right now; that yes, I do agree with what the Imam has said, and yes I do agree that because of the state of degeneration of this our western Judeo-Christian society, circumstances such as the apparent like of more than appropiately revealing clothing could exist. I will go further than this and state that yes, this IS why women get raped, and, what is more, this IS why our society does not get upset when this occurs. I have sat by and watched my country, the land on which I was born, turn into a country that I was born in, and it is most certainly NOT the country I wish to die in.
Have we become so depraved, that we have to allow our society to do this to us? I say, where are those of us who think our womenfolk should be dressed MODESTLY? Be silent no longer my friends and compatriots, for if we are to remain silent, it will be no-one's fault but our own when we hear of our own womenfolk terrorised, especially when we are the one's who have allowed the background environment where this type of activity can occur. September 07 Brendan Nelson being quiet over Pte. Kovko death...I read in the news today that Brendan Nelson refused a request to "keep quiet" over the circumstances of how Private Kovko died. Speaking from experience, I can attest to the fact this may have been one of the very, VERY, few times Brendan nelson has actually managed to find his voice. Hey Dr. Nelson, did the thought ever occur to you during your time as federal minister for science, education, and training, to say a few things there while you had that particular portfolio, or were you told to keep your mouth shut there too? And let's not forget a certain Ms. Carmel Tebutt either. I seem to recall her campaign slogan for the by-election in Marrickville was that she was "Caring and Committed" - that maybe so, but why is it that the Aboriginal Education Policy was only reviewed (taken from the shelf in the basement (the one that had the sign on the door saying "Beware the Leopards") and had the dust blown off it) as a direct result of a meeting between the Department of Education, the Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, and my spouse and I, when it should have been common practice? Caring and Comitted? - from what I've seen so far, it is only thus if Ms. Tebutt doesn't have to do any actual work! Politicians getting a paty rise in their pension remueration packages...I hear on today's news the politicians are set to get yet another pay rise. But this time, its not their actual pay packet that is getting the bonus, oh no, this time its their retirement renumeration! And lets face it, these same politicians, who have been known to flout the law at every opportunity, are well worth it. But as I have said before, elsewhere that is, if the government wants to throw their money around, throw it in the direction of us pensioners, we know what to do with it...and it wont be to buy a piggery either... Alas poor Steve, We hardly knew him Horatio...I would be remiss in my duties as an off-the-cuff commentator, if I did not include in my blog a comment about the late great Steve Irwin. And so I will comment. Germaine Greer, I should have known that someone of your ilk would have had something disparaging to say about who has done nothing but good things, not only in a local setting, but also I think, on a global setting as well, for both Australia and her citizens. Say what you will Germaine, but if you will insist on going around touching raw spots such as this, you may find copies of your book "The Female Eunuch" at the top of the heap at public book burnings. August 03 Does history repeat itself...?The wonderful folks of that ab fab band of the eighties, a certain "Split Enz", used to sing that "History Never Repeats"...I wonjder if this is really true, given that these days, everybody seems to be blaming the Jews, even for things they haven't even done. For example to say that the Jews are responsible for causing a tsunami in South East Asia, is tantamount to saying the Japanese are responsible for causing a diamond shortage in South Africa, in the De Beers company. Which brings me to another opinion I have on this matter. Mel Gibson going on an anti-semitic tirade. Isn't this bloke a Jew after all? And if he is, doesn't this mean that it would be the scenario of "the pot calling the kettle black?" May 05 Return of politicians to public service:sanity or insanity?I read on the ninemsn's website today that "Jeffrey b***dy Kennett", as he is known down in Victoria, is planning a comeback to politics. I wonder as a direct result of reading this news, if it is legal to photocopy my enrollment card 200 times in order to use it as dunny paper. And if it is, will it also be just a legal to do the same with my birth certificate, due to my being born in that highly volcanic area? When all is said and done, the sooner I am able to get off this stinking cesspool, for indeed, this is what this country has become, instead of being the beautiful place it was; the better. May 02 St. Kilda V's Freemantle at Cararra StadiumI'm gonna come right out and say that I reckon whoever the great pillock was that turned down the siren at the end of the last quarter should be hung, drawn, and quartered for his/her stupidity! Thanks to you pal, who ever you are, no we have to fight freeo for the two premiership points! Could your brain be any smaller? I mean, seriously you were supposed to turn up the volume of the bloody siren, not your hearing aid! get out of the way and let someone who knows what they're doing have a go will ya! Talk abhout being as thick as two planks end on! April 29 English tests for new citizensLook, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that its about bloody time! I mean, this is Australia with english as a first language for pete's sake, so if a person from a non-english speaking country is going to come to an english speaking country, what do they expect? that they are going to be able to go and apply for a job where they deal with customers all day long and not be expected to have to speak to their customers? And as for the question of Indigenous people not being able to speak english, after 218 years of european colonisation, i find that pretty hard to believe... And that's another thing...why is it that whenever somebody in canberra comes up with a relatively good idea, why do the other members go and immediately engage in a character assassination of the member with the intelligence quotient to come up with the idea in the first place! I am really starting to think that I was right to tear up my ballot paper in the last nsw state election: the politicians in sydney don't give a crap about us out here in reality; and I even doubt if they ever will. first Australian Soldier killed in Iraq...So we have finally added one of our own to the number of military personnel killed in a war that in my opinion, was completely unneccessary. I mean come on, are they seriously trying to make us believe that the "pentagon", the "C.I.A.", or even the "F.B.I." had neither the manpower or the funds needed to contract out a squad of say, 12 highly trained professionals to do the job of removing Saddam Hussein et. al. from power? Even me, with my limited training could have done the job! Call me strange, but I simply cannot swallow that tripe! Yeah condolences to the families of the dead soldiers and all that, but seriously! They didn't even need to be there in the first place! Yeah o.k., so I've been told off by others before about being "outspoken"; but if you are seriously sitting there and trying to make me believe that the "war on terror" was just, legal, and moral, - you are going to be busy for a long time, and my advice to you is simple: quit while you are way behind. February 07 Cartoon of the prophet MuhammedOkay so there is a cartoon of the prophet Muhammed with a bomb for a turban. The news broadcasts I have listened to have said it published in a danish newspaper. What I would like to know is, did the cartoonist actually think about the reprocussions of his/her actions before he/she did the cartoon? Or was it more of a situation that they were deliberately trying to make an existing bad problem worse? Whatever the case, I don't see any cartoons of any other religions God, so I start thinking that maybe they were "stirring the pot" deliberately. If this is the case then I am pretty sure that whatever their motivations were they were unlikely to include the burning of both the danish and norwegian embassies. But you know what, I look at this and I think to myself that this surely must be the start of the events leading up to the return of the Messiah. If it is, then surely the abomination that causes desolation must have something to do with the amount of slandering that is going around that says that all muslims are terrorists. I live next door to a couple of muslims and I for one have never seen them doing anything other than going about their day to day existence; like going to work, having friends over, et cetera. And on the subject of their prayer times of five times a day; I'm lucky if I can mange five times a week. I must work on that. And that reminds me of something else that I find peculiar. Why is it that when a person comes here from another country as an immigrant, they inevitably find themselves behind bars? \Peace. February 06 newest entryAnd so we here in australia have put our foot in our our mouth once again... Its like I've said many times before... Once you have a government that is set up by a bunch of ex-crims...any system of government they set up has to be an insult to the original system of government on which it is founded. And on that note; why is it that when the government does something wrong, they always seem to have a method of getting away with it? I mean, take a look at what is going on with this AWB debacle... Here they are blaming each other for what they themselves have done, and the only thing it achieves is to set them in direct opposition to the very people they claim to have as allies... which reminds me... is it just me or does it seem peculiar that a bloke who operates in an act of alegience to a foreign power can remain in office? I mean when we ordinary citizens break the law we have to do time; but when the politicians break the law, the constituents seem to have no problems voting for them the next time the election rolls around... Peace. January 11 Hello Blog! This is the first of what I hope will be many blogs. This is where you will find bits and pieces of practically anything that I find interseting for whatever reason. You might also find some pearls of wisdom from time to time; you may even find something to argue with me about. Also here is where I may choose to keep you up to date with what is going on in my life, but whatever the case is, this is my space and I reserve the right to say what I want to say. They say that everybody has a right to an opinion; well, this is mine. |
